Gary Guiver
Quiet, T-Total, clean living, what on earth is this man doing in a rock ‘n’ roll band? The answer: that boy has music pulsing through his veins.
The youngest (and shortest) member of the group, Gary started playing the guitar back in 1989 on a three-quarter size Spanish accoustic guitar kindly given to him by a neighbour who was just about to move house. The strings were like cheese wire and it sounded more like George Formby’s ukelele than a guitar but it was the start of something quite extaordinary. However, at that time, Stock, Aitkin and Waterman were dominating the charts with their electronic synthesised sound and, believe it or not, guitars were not a fashionable instrument to play.
Luckily, he was already a dab hand on the electric organ, inspired by his musical grandfather. It was clear from an early age that he knew what the notes sounded and which chords went with them, even though he could never read music.
Despite many years of playing, he didn’t join his first band until 2000! The band was “Mother Pearl” and he played one gig before the band split - but we’re assured that it wasn’t his fault.
Gary has a wide and varied taste in music but is a particular fan of the Police, R.E.M. and the Beatles. and has just as much respect for Tchaikovsky as he does for Ozzy Osbourne!
Gary’s playing style is particularly smooth and natural and his ability to write a catchy tune comes just as naturally.
Gary can often also be seen playing lead guitar for local covers band ‘Beats Working’. He might not be able to down a pint of Guinness, but give him a Coca Cola, and he’s anybody’s.
