Rick Armstrong

The natural showman and style guru of the group, Rick is a dedicated follower of fashion. Just don’t mention the 80’s! (He doesn’t know they’ve gone).
A big fan of Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Sting, Rick has a bass-playing style all of his own - a melodic blend of funk, rock, ska and jazz.
He started playing in the mid 1990’s and had a wealth of gig experience, namely with “Mother Pearl” (also featuring Gary) and “Talisman” before joining Broken Watch in 2003.
Rick has worked in the media production industry in the past and has been involved in amateur dramatics. He’s artistic in every sense and this is reflected in his willingness to try out something “slightly unusual” now and again in the recording studio. He is also a keen film-maker so Mr. Spielberg, watch out; there’s a new kid on the block!
His drama background has afforded Rick a powerful singing voice that sometimes begs the question whether a microphone is a necessary piece of equipment for him to possess! He does impressions too, just ask him to do an impression of a horse; it’s hilarious!
