With their second album, the band had found their live sound and at any Broken Watch gig you go to even now, the songs from this record are always well represented. Recorded in the spring of 2004, the mood of this album is significantly more confident and optimistic than 2003’s Killing Time.
The album opens with the classic guitar-based belter “Wake Up” written primary by Rick Armstrong who was also the key songwriter behind the upbeat declaration of shyness that is “If Only” and the sing-along ballad “Sometime Yesterday”. The album also features “Stay Awake All Night”; one of the band’s finest and most popular songs and one that goes down particularly well live along with “Go Between”; written by the band in 5 minutes and for which the lyrics are often mistake for “she’s just an aubergine”!! Both songs that get the feet going.
The album cover was designed and produced by the brilliant Matt Summers who has supported the band from the beginning. The ‘cover-girl’ is the stunning Donna-Marie Shepherd.
