Recording during the summer of 2003, the band’s first album was completed before their first gig in September of that year. In fact, quite a few of the songs had been written even before the band got together.
Many draw from Chris Napier’s vast collection of lyrics that he had compiled during his teenage years including the album’s opening track “Norwood Park View” which is all about a man who takes stock of his life whilst gazing over at the London skyline; the high octane “Killing Time” written whilst waiting for a train at Colchester Station; and “They All Know I Can” the world’s ‘most arrogant song’; an ode to the excesses of the rock and roll lifestyle. Also featuring on the Album is the heart-wrenching Rick Armstrong ballad “Once In A Blue Moon” all about the anguish of being lonely.
Although musically, the band has progresses since those early days, this album is still regarded by many as their best.
The album cover features the boys on the steps of the footbridge at Weeley railway station in Essex. The photos were taken by Sandie Guiver and Nicola Wood.
